  • Abstract
    In this paper, a realization of a fiber optic network is discussed. The application of the fiber optic network is an electric train monitoring system. The network topology which is suitable for electric trains, communication scheme for a highly reliable system, self-diagnosis and fault tolerant algorithms are described. Performance analysis shows the suggested network can meet hard real time requirements. The suggested network system will be applied to subway electric trains in Seoul, Korea
