Abstract
Currently magnetic field therapy with time varying magnetic fields is applied in human and veterinary medicine mainly for supporting fracture or wound healing and pain treatment. Recent findings also indicate the possibility of using magnetic fields to stimulate specific cell functions. For in vitro experiments with fibroblast- and osteoblast tissue cultures, a novel field generator was designed and constructed. This field generator supplies the Helmholtz coils with different waveforms and allows the superposition of AC and DC-fields. For precise definition of the experimental data the coils are characterized by a data acquisition program
