  • Abstract
If grid-connected PV applications are prominent in the PV market segments of developed countries, an agrarian country like India is gradually experiencing a paradigm shift to stand alone solar PV water pumping. This would encourage economies of scale PV plants in India in the future and ensure reliable, clean and sustainable power to small farmers. The DC floating pump system developed by the Polyene Group has found acceptance amongst small farmers in the Southern states of India as established by various studies. This paper also discusses the economics of solar water pumping from the stand point of the Government and develops life cycle cost analyses of various options. Solar PV water pumping has indeed arrived in India.
