Abstract
Summary form only given. The guiding of a light beam with a waveguide induced by another beam propagating in the same nonlinear medium has been investigated by various research groups. The guiding phenomena can be based on a host of nonlinearities. Particularly for third order nonlinearity, the usual experimental configuration requires a strong beam to guide a weak beam. In this talk, we will consider the guiding of a high intensity bright beam by an optical vortex soliton (OVS) pair in a self-defocusing Kerr medium. We will discuss the effect of a strong guided beam on spatial switching and directional coupling with the OVS pair.
