Abstract :
The European Multisensor Airborne Campaign-94/95 (EMAC-94/95) is organised by ESA and it covers six thematic areas. One of them is snow and ice, including both sea ice and land ice. A total of 17 research teams and 34 institutes are involved in the EMAC-95 Snow and Ice activities and data analysis. The main test sites are located in Finland (sea ice and snow) and Norway (snow and land ice). The airborne instruments include two SAR sensors (ESAR from DLR (Germany) and EMISAR from Technical University of Denmark) and two microwave radiometer systems (Helsinki University of technology (HUT) and UK Meteorological Office Systems). Special attention is paid to collecting proper ground truth data. Spaceborne data from ERS-1 and other satellites are acquired
