Abstract :
The coding and decoding of a long Reed-Solomon code over a large finite field is one of the most important problems of error correcting coding. This paper presents a simplified coding and decoding method over the prime filed GF(257) based on TMS 320 series high speed digital signal processor. The information bit rate is at least twice that of the ISDN B-channel basic rate recommended by CCITT
