Abstract :
A coupled random network model is introduced to explore the opinion dynamics in the two groups whose mainstream opinion is discordant from each other when they are collaborated together in a mega-construction project. Opinion propagation in a project is treated as a kind of complex contagions, which means one need sufficient social enhancement to change one´s own opinion. Majority rule (MR) is improved by taking into account the existence of a threshold of opinion transition of individuals, which characterizes the human nature of sticking to one´s own opinion to a certain extent, so as to remedy the defect of the Lambiotte model´s assumption that individuals preferentially follow the crowed in their opinion update (e.g. herding behaviours in public choices). A phase diagram about the opinion evolution in the two groups is obtained where there are three regimes, and the self-organization phenomena and its features are discovered in regime 2. While the emergence of a dominate opinion may take place in this regime without managers´ intervention, it is clear that the dominate opinion is unpredictable. The simulation results also validate the necessity of the opinion induction by project organizers to promote the formation of positive public opinion in the whole organization.
