Abstract :
This paper presents a design methodology of a combined series active filter with eighteen-pulse transformer and a PWM converter. The series active filter prevents dysfunctional in PWM converter in case of dips or sags in voltage source under disturbed regime. It also compensates harmonic voltage produced by the load in eighteen-pulse transformer. The current harmonics compensation in the whole system is assured by the eighteen-pulse transformer operating as phase´s multiplication and by the PWM converter themselves. The control technique of the series active filter uses the SRF (synchronous reference frame) method; the PWM converter uses an indirect current control and the phase multiplication uses delta-polygon connection. The aim of this paper is to provide an alternative solution to UPQC system. The simulation results of the series active filter with two loads namely multi pulse transformer and a PWM converter using Matlab simulink are presented
