Abstract :
In the near future satellite-borne Doppler wind lidars (DWL) should constitute one of the most important improvements in the instrumentation used to support weather forecasting and climatology in the near future, because they can be used to measure the three-dimensional structure of the wind field. The wind speed is estimated by means of the Doppler frequency shift of the lidar echo; therefore, Doppler shift estimation algorithms play a significant role in the performance budget of the system and are worth analyzing
