Abstract :
This paper presents a CIMS-oriented approach to knowledge representation and processing for process planning. It includes a knowledge representation scheme, strategy of task decomposition and synthesis, and construction of knowledge base and optimization of rule set. At present, the system of computer aided process planning which adopts this approach is working on an IBM AST/PC computer. The system is written in C,PRO*C and SQL language in ORACLE database
