Abstract :
Research over the years has demonstrated that engineers and managers use only extremely limited information as they manage technology. This paper contends that their failure to use available external information resources threatens their ability to perform effectively. This paper focuses on technical professionals and managers´ use of external bibliographic resources. The hypotheses are that these technology managers do not use the resources optimally, that text-mining software can facilitate new modes of access to database resources, and that this information can serve specific technology management functions
