Abstract :
This paper offers some insights into selected “management of technology” related constructs and tools that can help integrate planning and operations for the mid-to-large size technology intensive company. The constructs and tools reflect real-time lessons being learned from a consortium of major US firms, academia and government agencies working together to improve the leverage from the strategic management of technology and related organizational processes. The initial work has been conducted under the auspices of the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS). The Management of Accelerated Technology Insertion (MATI) project is still underway and these are early constructs based on initial interviews and process scans
