Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a new active contour model that can be used to segment images with intensity inhomogeneities. The proposed method integrates geodesic curves with LBF method. We refer to this as the Geodesic-Aided LBF method. Moreover, a novel method based on local information for variational level set is added to the level set regularization term in the energy functional. It can not only ensure accurate computation, but also avoid expensive re-initialization of the level set function. Experiments on synthetic and real images demonstrate the advantages of the proposed model over the C-V model and the LBF model in terms of efficiency.
