Abstract :
Summary form only given. British universities today have to look at other activities for income generation. Teaching is not enough to support the financial requirements of a modern present day university. One of the greatest resources that universities have is their students. The students develop new competencies and in many final year undergraduate engineering design courses develop products which can be evaluated and have the potential to be commercialized successfully. The majority of these products have already completed various feasibility studies, plus a fully tested and evaluated prototype along with a business plan for Company set/start up scenario. This paper explains a new process that Bournemouth University hopes to adopt. The same process maybe adopted and adapted to suit each university´s individual requirements. The key to this process is collaboration with industrial partners developing strong links and successful partnerships
