Abstract :
In multisensor tracking systems where sensors process their data locally to produce local tracks, these tracks are communicated to a central location where track fusion is performed. The conditional dependency of these tracks make the track fusion problem difficult to solve whenever a globally optimal solution is sought. This paper addresses the issue of optimal track fusion for similar and dissimilar synchronous sensors. It is shown that the optimality can be guaranteed under some communication requirements from the fusion center to the local sensors. The proposed track fusion algorithm is tested, using simulated tracks, and compared to a commonly used track fusion algorithm.
