Abstract
Some network 66kV distribution system has some problems such as the levels of voltage along the loads are low and the loss along the line is big due to the long distance and the huge reactance, aiming at the problems, compensation effects of series compensation, parallel compensation and both of them are compared in the paper, basing on the principle of improving line voltage using capacitor compensation. Through the theoretical analysis and simulation, corresponding conclusions are get. The effect of series compensation is ideal, that of parallel is not obvious, when the two are used simultaneously, parallel compensation can offset series compensation partly.
