Abstract
In this paper, we consider the problem of decentralized suboptimal H2-filtering which guarantees the asymptotic stability of the filtering error. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a decentralized H2-filter. It is proposed how a decentralized H2-filter can be constructed using invariance subspaces from geometric control theory. It is shown that the McMillan degree of each local filter is less than or equal to that of the plant.
