Abstract :
Environmental conditions were monitored using in situ measured inherent optical properties and water sampling together with remote sensing imagery (MERIS and ASAR) in Muuga Bay, Baltic Sea. Simultaneous monitoring using different methodologies gave detailed overview of suspended matter (SPM) load into the water column during the dredging operations. MERIS FRS data enabled to receive the distribution of SPM on water surface. The measurements of inherent optical properties reviled the particle concentration on vertical scale. Backscattering from the ASAR data was in correlation with oil products determined from water samples when ballast water discharge was detected during field sampling.
