Abstract :
The didactic design of an e-learning environment should provide an effective interface between the learner, the learning material and learning activities. The article proposes a typology according to which six categories of e-learning activities in natural sciences are distinguished: assimilation, reproduction, application, generation, communication and reflection of knowledge. The activities are illustrated by examples from an e-learning course in electromagnetic compatibility. The typology can be used as a source for writing new e-learning material in other scientific fields, but also as a tool for evaluating and profiling existing learning material. After the presentation of the research study context, the basic concepts of EMC are explained. Course description and methodology are outlined by considering the process of individual learning. Paper advocate in favor of the process of autonomous learning by using visual capabilities of the computers. The advantages of the interactive multi-media computer systems are analyzed. Principles of the contemporary cognitive learning theory are considered. An approach for designing and producing courseware materials based on the Gagne´s principles of instructional design is proposed
