  • Abstract
The settlement of MSW landfill is remarkable in both during the filling process and after the covered landfill, it will bring disadvantages to man-made hill´s preservation and the shape of esthetic appearance. The compression of the refuse soil is due to the combined influence of the self-weight and the organic matter degradation. To beginning with, this paper introduce the settlement mechanism of municipal solid waste heap mountain, and present that the settlement include the settlement before plugging and the settlement after plugging; the settlement before plugging include owner settlement, hypo-settlement and the settlement because of organics decomposition; while the settlement after plugging mainly caused by organics decomposition. On the base of these theories a new calculation clue of the settlement of after plugging present in this article.
