Abstract
Aeronautical Ad hoc Network (AANET) is the application of mobile Ad hoc networks to aeronautical communications, and has the abilities of self-organization and self-restoration, and the advantages of rapidity and high efficiency. Connectivity, a fundamental issue in the studies of AANET, is the basis of the design of network protocols. In this paper, we present an analytical framework for determining the connectivity requirements for AANET. Based on a probability analytical model, one- and two-way flight routes are considered, the analytical expressions of connectivity probability are derived, and then verified by simulations. The conclusion is valuable for the development of AANET.
