Abstract
The dielectric relaxation times of the two important sterols-stigmasterol and sitosterol measured in the pressure range 5 to 8 tons and frequency range 10 to 30 MHz have been reported. The solid wafers of the two sterols were prepared using a special die of area 1.766 sq cm and subjected to pressures in the range of 5 to 8 tons. The capacitance and the loss factor of the imperfect capacitor formed by the use of one of such wafers as the dielectric were measured using a Q-meter EE-13. The experiments were repeated for wafers at different pressures, and corresponding dielectric relaxation times were computed and explained on theoretical considerations
