Abstract :
A subband adaptive filter which adaptively allocates the available taps based on a psychoacoustically-weighted error measure is introduced. The motivation for providing frequency-dependent echo cancellation is to minimize echo audibility for a subband adaptive filter with a fixed number of total adaptive taps. Simulations in an acoustic echo cancellation environment indicate that the proposed algorithm reduces echo audibility for some speakerphone-room responses
