Abstract :
Summary form only given. Knowledge utilization in a company is made up of the following six phases: acquisition, documentation, transmission, receival, perception and decision-making. This process creates knowledge and delivers it to the decision makers to be used for successful business operation. Evaluation of the efficiency of utilization process is a major concern in modern business community. A lot of research and experiments are being made to solve this dilemma. Mostly the models are so complicated that they are not applicable on the shop floor. Various inquiries to the personnel disturb regular work so much that people get frustrated and they reject the practice. This paper suggests a simple mathematical model to measure the efficiency of knowledge dissemination, the efficiency index method (EIM). This method models the efficiency of documentation, transmission and receival phases with three attributes: process width, process delay, and process effort. Process width is the number of receivers who have received the transferred knowledge by the time of assessment. Process delay is the time from the beginning of the documentation phase to the end of the receival phase. Effort is the amount of human labor or any other resource needed to run the knowledge transfer process
