Abstract :
To understand what team members think about their companies´ new product development (NPD) processes, we sought answers to the following questions: How clear were you about the NPD process used by your company? What made the process clear or unclear? Was the NPD process used effective or ineffective? Why was it effective or ineffective? What major difficulties did you as a team member experience during the beginning of NPD projects? In the middle of NPD projects? At the end of NPD projects? How well did you understand the purpose of the projects you were involved with? What contributed to your understanding or lack of understanding? In-depth interviews were conducted with 71 US members of NPD teams in eighteen companies in technology-based industries
