  • Abstract
A scheme is proposed for adaptive antenna pattern switch in WiMAX (world interoperability for microwave access) system. In the scheme, the decision for switching is made according to the minimum acceptable signal-to-noise ratio. It enables the WiMAX system to switch adoptively between the multi-antenna pattern and the single antenna pattern. And then a proper tradeoff could be achieved between the computing complexity and the communication quality to make the WiMAX system more effective. The proposed scheme is especially applicable to the real time service. The users need not do anything additional but could have less latency as well as acceptable communication reliability
