Abstract
The generation of acoustic waves during the crater on the surface of metal growth was investigated. It is shown that the law of temporal evolution of the sizes of the zone of inelastic deformation can be determined unambiguously from the time dependence of the pressure in an elastic wave recorded at a large distance from a breakdown area. It is shown, that the intensive crater growth begins in ~20 mus (in the end of laser action) and continues up to laser plasma set relaxation (~40 mus).
