Abstract :
Torque ripple and consequent acoustic noise is one of the primary disadvantages of a Switched Reluctance Machine. In this paper a Novel torque ripple minimization technique for switched reluctance motors (SRM) drive is presented. In this method the inductance and its rate of change with rotor position for each motor phase that participate in positive torque production is obtained through simulation. In order to minimize torque ripple, the magnitude of current is varied using PWM technique according to the rotor position. During commutation, two positive producing phases are simultaneously turned on with different pulse width modulation to keep the torque pulsation as low as possible.
