Abstract
Describes a method for designing the topology of a local area ATM network. The first phase of the method involves the calculation of logical pipe sizes required to meet a particular loss requirement. The second phase uses heuristics to derive the physical topology. This method successfully generates low cost network topologies that guarantee loss QOS requirements for L-ATM networks
