Abstract
This paper presents a fundamental development and analysis of the induction machine connected via a transmission line to an infinite bus system. A third order dynamic model is used to represent the induction generator and the obtained resultant nonlinear system equations are analyzed to calculate a condition that guarantees the existence of equilibrium points to the dynamic system. This condition is used to derive three other conditions which compute (i) the minimum value of capacitance, (ii) the maximum deliverable power and (iii) the maximum line reactance that can be connected to the machine. The analysis presented in this paper could be a useful tool for preliminary planning studies involving wind energy converters connected to the grid via a transmission line.
