Abstract :
PropMan, an automated expert system for propagation resource management that embodies current progress in computer technology and propagation research, is described. The system offers a comprehensive, quick, and user-friendly process for making high frequency (HF) channel allocations. Experience with numerous exercises supporting a wide variety of HF customers has resulted in refinement of various propagation/frequency-management tools, including PropMan. Feedback from customers, testing, and research have facilitated the calibration of these tools to fit the real world. The various features and capabilities of the PropMan system that allow quick and comprehensive PC/laptop HF frequency management and tradeoffs are explained
