Abstract :
The author investigates the performance of packetized meteor-burst communication systems with both fixed rate coding and interleaving. The throughput is evaluated for different system parameters. Numerical results show that this simple technique can provide significant improvement in the system throughput. In addition, results indicate that this technique is more effective when the channel decay constant is small. This may be attractive for those applications where the average time constant is small, such as links operating at high frequencies or at short distances
