  • Abstract
Strategic planning includes high visibility components such as profitability and market share, a secure employee environment, and customer satisfaction. Less visible are planning for an uncertain future, decisions which make the best use of limited resources, and the implementation of these plans and decisions. The authors recommend structured planning tools to impose some objectivity on a subjective process, and a combination of constraint management and intelligent resource deployment to minimize risks associated with strategic investment decisions that have long term consequences
