Abstract :
This paper presents an analytical method for the design of interpolated finite impulse response (IFIR) digital filters. The problem of determining the optimum "stretch factor" L is specifically addressed, as is the optimal determination of multiple stretch factors for generalized IFIR designs where the minimum number of multipliers is sought. Insight is also given into the preliminary assessment of whether a set of filter specifications is such that an IFIR approach is likely to be beneficial.
