Abstract :
The author presents an appeal to those concerned with military communications to work together to put an end to fractionated military communication systems, and provide well-designed, integrated, flexible, and survivable (but less expensive) voice and data communications for the soldier and commander of the future. It is suggested that MILCOM start the process by forming a civilian/military/government communication planning, coordination, and consulting committee dedicated to focusing standards, specifications, research, development, and engineering on coordinated integrated communications for military use
