Abstract :
The Next Generation Digital Library Project has developed software components that are necessary to build digital libraries and future information distribution systems, and implemented these components by using CORBA and agent technology. Furthermore combining these components the project has developed a digital library system that is a three-tier client/server configuration. This paper presents component-based development, basic components, middleware components, application components, a prototype system which combines components, and user evaluation
