            Abstract : 
A novel multimedia processing proxy is presented which is especially suited for IPTV services. It offers special multimedia processing functionalities for IPTV namely transcoding of video and audio, picture-in-picture functionality as well as the insertion of text messages. The proxy is dynamically configurable and reconfigurable during runtime. Furthermore, its application to service-aware transport overlays in ambient networks is possible. A realization of the proxy is described and its application for IPTV services in ambient networks is explained.
