Abstract
Discusses the development of millimeter-wave (44-GHz uplink and 20-GHz downlink) phased-array communication antennas for flush-mounting on aircraft and other platforms. The authors develop the technology of integrated circuit active phased arrays (ICAPA) based upon a unique packaging architecture. The technology developed on this program was applied to advantage on the NASA Advanced Communication Technology Satellite (ACTS) program to provide an airborne, 19.9 GHz, downlink phased array antenna.<>
