Abstract :
The purpose of the present study was to examine by means of computer simulation the capability of Body Surface Laplacian Maps (BSLMs) to localize and image infarctions located inside the myocardium. The present study is based on a previously developed finite element model of the ventricles which consists of some 30,000 cubic finite elements. During the ST-segment the BSLMs clearly localize and image two spatially separate infarcted regions on the anterior, the lateral and the posterior epicardium and the anterior endocardium. The present simulation results suggest that body surface Laplacian mapping has enhanced performance in localizing and imaging myocardial infarctions
