Title :
A demonstration high temperature superconductor cable to power a manufacturing operation
Author_Institution :
Southwire Co., Carrollton, GA, USA
Abstract :
This paper describes the three year project by Southwire Company (USA) to build a high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) cable project to supply power to two major manufacturing plants and a large machine shop. There are three phases, each 30 meters long, that operate at 12.5 kV and 1250 A. Also included is a brief discussion of HTSC development and the status of today´s materials
