Abstract :
Based on the monitoring results of water quality in Pinqing Lagoon in September 2008, the means of pH, salinity and dissolved oxygen (DO) outside of the lagoon is larger than those of inside. But the means of suspended material(SS), chemical oxygen demand(COD), biological control oxygen demand(BOD), total inorganic nitrogen(TIN), total inorganic phosphate(TIP), Oils, Zn, et al. are on the contrary, and among the monitoring pollutant values (e.g. DO, COD, TIN, TIP, Oils, Hg, et al. ) are greater than the Class 2 sea-water specified by the Chinese National Standard of Sea Water Quality. Compared with the monitoring pollutant values in the Pinqing Lagoon, the order of pollution is S10>S12>S4. The E index and NQI index indicate that the sea area of S10, S12, and S4 is eutrophicated. The results show that the water quality in Pinqing Lagoon is badly affected by domestic sewerage, industrial waste water, mariculture pollution, and so on. The government of Shanwei, having realized the adverse impacts of pollution in the lagoon on the physical and economic environment of Shanwei, is implementing measures to restore the lagoon to its natural ecology.
