Abstract :
Application prospect of concrete curved bridges in China is described. The typical diseases of curved bridges in China are introduced. By ways of investigation and documents consultation five aspects are summed up which are considered to lead to the diseases happening. Based on the research status the action of a curved bridge under either prestress loads or temperature loads need a further study, and the thought about how to develop the further study is provided. Both constructive suggestions and countermeasures on curved bridge design are concluded, which´s aim is to take precautions against the typical disease happening. The present study results about design countermeasures on curve bridges are analyzed and discussed. The analysis indicated that China bridge code started to implement in 2004 does not adopt the research results of curved bridges was due to have different conclusions in the research. The discussion clarified that the people engaged in the research on curved bridge design in China are mainly college teachers and bridge designers. Due to different working environment, the results come from either college teacher or bridge engineer has advantages and disadvantages respectively. In order to quickly promote the design ability on curved bridge combination of production and research was considered to the best effective research mode.
