Quality assurance in engineering education

The author argues that African countries should review and revise engineering education course contents and redirect research focus so that they address African needs. African countries should break away from cycle of dependence which make them lie back and await changes in foreign systems: then react by searching for minor adjustments to suit perceived needs. This will ensure that graduates are employable both regionally and internationally; that they are able to solve local and regional problems in realism of their environment; and that they practice their profession in a way which demonstrates their love for and willingness to accept responsibility for accelerating change in their society
