Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. More and more companies are developing and manufacturing product in different geographic regions. While there are obvious and significant benefits to this arrangement (i.e., cost), there are also significant challenges. Language, distance, time and cultural barriers all impede effective communication and responsiveness. These challenges are especially critical for board and system test. Significant work must be done before, during and after test deployment to be successful. Cisco Systems has been able to effectively develop and deploy tests in this global environment. Insight will be given into what makes the company so successful despite the challenges of global manufacturing and test.
