Abstract
An analysis of a novel brushless self-excited single-phase generator is presented. The rotor of the generator consists of a short-circuited field coil with a diode. The output voltage can be near constant for a wide range of load without AVR. In order to establish the design criterion of this generator, a magnetic field analysis is carried out. It is found that the theoretical results agree with the experimental ones. This generator is very simple, robust and maintenance-free. It is useful as a maintenance-free constant-speed generator
