Abstract :
The fiber amplifier source (FAS) with bi-pump-source, specified for interference fiber optic gyroscope (IFOG), was limited by the poor wavelength stability. In theory, it was found the main factors that influenced the stability of FAS were the variations of pump power, pump wavelength, feedback from FOG and temperature of erbium doped fiber. Experiments were given, and from the results it was found that the influence of the pump power could be eliminated by adjusting the length of erbium doped fiber, not only by stabilizing it. The influence of pump wavelength on stability could be eliminated by stabilizing it, and the influence of feedback could be ignored in close-loop IFOG. In order to compensate the influence of temperature, temperature experiment was repeated three times, and the relationship between temperature and mean-wavelength is linear. By adopting fiber length of 22 meter, the stability of wavelength achieved 8 ppm with the compensatory formula. And the output power was 10 mW while the spectrum width was 38 nm for bi-pump-source.
