Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to identify and evaluate the business aspects of service provisioning in Personal Network (PN) based internetworking configurations and infrastructures that are federated within a converged networking environment. The PN federation concept is also analyzed with respect to its expected impact in the current mobile business models while its future impact to the mobile value chain for the operators and service providers, as well. Additionally it assesses the critical success factors for profitable PN service provisioning based on economic parameters and costs of the underlying infrastructure. The work falls under the business activity framework of the IST-MAGNET Beyond project [2] within FP6 known as the continuation of IST-MAGNET project [1].
