Abstract :
Management-by-projects (MBP) and its call for less hierarchical and more flexible and responsive organisations have attracted much attention in the 1990s. MBP is relevant and useful in the manufacturing industry as it provides an ideal multi-project environment for MBP to be implemented. The organisational activities are viewed as a network of internal and external projects. The projects are interrelated and implemented at different levels within the base organisation. MBP is built on modern project management concepts and methods, but it also represents a new management paradigm which helps organisations to transform and in turn its implementation is enabled by such transformation. The link between MBP and TQM is also discussed
