Abstract :
A federation of experimental testbeds will significantly accelerate Future Internet research. However, making observations is one of the core pillars of experimental-based scientific research. Therefore federation of multi-domain, heterogeneous testbeds requires interoperable mechanisms to control and monitor experimentation resources, technologies, and services, across these testbeds. Currently, there is no monitoring solution for federated heterogeneous testbeds, and each has its own solution. This paper introduces a flexible and comprehensive monitoring system for federated Future Internet testbeds. It includes a management toolkit that is responsible for managing federated monitoring resources across heterogeneous domains. To this end, various stakeholders, such as testbed providers and experimenters, can easily obtain monitoring information across federated testbeds. Through interworking interfaces, the system enables as well information exchange between the management systems of the federated testbeds required for management and optimization purposes.
