Abstract :
A drive control for voltage source inverter (VSI) fed induction motors which is based on the principle of field-oriented control is described. This control is implemented on a microprocessor-based control system. Several problems which are typical for high-power drive systems are discussed in detail. The control hardware and its programming technique are also described. Results from measurements in a test facility are shown for a gate turn-off thyristor (GTO)-VSI fed 800 kW AC motor drive system. Risetimes of torque of about 10 ms and a good stability in steady-state operation could be achieved
